FAQ
Getting started
What is World Tour Planner?
A tool to plan and log world tours in any flight simulator: you build a chain of legs (from ICAO to ICAO), fly them in the sim and mark them as completed. Distance, bearing and a flight-time estimate are calculated automatically.
How does a tour with legs work?
A tour is a container for a series of legs. Each leg has three statuses: planned → active → completed. You plan a leg from your current position; the next leg automatically starts where the previous one ended.
Can I use it on my iPad next to the sim?
Yes. The app is responsive and made to sit open on an iPad next to your PC while you fly. Your account, tours and settings are the same on every device.
Tours & legs
Where does the flight-time estimate come from?
From the great-circle distance divided by the cruise speed of the chosen aircraft. It's a rough estimate (without climb/descent and wind), enough to weigh up legs. If a leg is longer than the aircraft's range, you'll see a warning.
How do I copy someone else's tour?
Open a public or shared tour and use Copy. It lands in your own account as a fresh private tour with all legs set back to planned, ready for you to fly.
Sharing & collaboration
How do I share a tour or collaborate?
As the owner, open the Share panel on the tour and add someone with an account as an editor (can help plan/edit) or viewer (view only).
What's the difference between Publish, Collaborate and Share?
Publish puts a tour in the public Discover library so anyone can find, view and copy it. Collaborate invites specific people with an account to build and fly the same tour together (as editor or viewer). Share gives you a link to send someone directly; they can view the tour and copy it to their own account.
What do private, unlisted and public mean?
Private tours are only visible to you and people you invite. Unlisted tours are viewable by anyone with the link, but don't show up in Discover. Public tours appear in the Discover library for everyone. Copying a share link automatically makes a private tour unlisted.
Weather & SimBrief
What does the SimBrief button do?
It opens SimBrief Dispatch with the departure and arrival ICAO and the aircraft type already pre-filled. You don't need an API key for it.
Where does the weather (METAR) come from?
Live from aviationweather.gov (NOAA), fetched per airport and cached briefly. It is not stored.
Which flight simulators does it work with?
Any of them. World Tour Planner is sim-agnostic: you plan and log your flights here and fly them in whatever simulator you like. The SimBrief hand-off works with any sim SimBrief supports.
Account & devices
I forgot my password. What now?
Automatic resets aren't available yet. Use the 'Forgot password?' link on the login page and email us; we'll reset it for you.
How do I suggest a feature or report a bug?
Use the Feedback page (under Settings, or via Contact) to send us suggestions and bugs directly. We collect everything in the project backlog.
